June 18, 2007The World Series of Video Games presented by Intel (WSVG),the first international video game competition circuit for multiple game platforms, will be host to several Guitar Hero 2 competitions over the course of the year. Guitar Hero 2 lets users play their favorite songs by their favorite bands including tracks by MEGADETH, GUNS N' ROSES, THE ROLLING STONES, ANTHRAX, LAMB OF GOD, BLACK SABBATH, NIRVANA, PRIMUS and IRON MAIDEN amongst others. The WSVG will be providing upto $80,000 in cash and travel expenses for performers in this year's circuit.
This year's first stop will be this weekend, June 21-24, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
Contestants will perform a song of their choosing at a difficulty level they are comfortable with. Each performer will perform their song in front of three judges. At the end of each performance each judge will award a score of 1.0-10.0, reflecting stage presence, difficulty of performance and accuracy. All three scores will be added together to produce a final score adding up to a possible 30.0.
Judges for this weekend's Louisville event will consist of MTV VJ Coltrane Curtis, G4 Judgement Day's Tommy Tallarico and GameRiot.com's Rod Breslau. Judges for the Dallas event will be announced shortly.
